Lana Krznaric

LANA KRZNARIC, Director of Legal and General Affairs / Authorised Assistant Manager

Lana Krznaric started her studies at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and continued her education at the European Faculty of Law, Slovenia, where she graduated and acquired the professional title Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.).

She is responsible for organisation, execution and coordination of activities in the field of legal and general affairs, implementation and supervision of legal procedures on behalf of the company, the preparation of contracts and other legal acts and for providing legal advice.

Furthermore, she also represents the company and assists in the formulation of its strategic goals and in the preparation of business plans, supervises development and execution of business strategies and related changes and contributes to achieving the company’s business goals and plans.

Lana is a member of the Maritime Law Association of Slovenia (MLAS), which is a member of the Comité Maritime International (CMI), a non-governmental international organization, established in 1897 with Headquarters in Belgium, which brings together over 50 national maritime law associations. She holds the position of a member of the Executive Board in the MLAS.

Lana’s Article on the Tax situation of seafarers and intervention measures, in which she addressed the challenging situation faced by seafarers as a result of measures related to the Covid-19 containment, in particular in relation to border closures and travel restrictions, focusing on the loss of income of seafarers due to this situation, was published in Pravna Praksa (“Legal Practice”), a weekly, high quality magazine, targeted at professional legal community including judges, lawyers and consultants, in May 2020. The main focus of the Article is the question of taxation of seafarers and the need for their inclusion into the aid measures mitigating the consequences of the coronavirus epidemic, while also drawing attention to the otherwise necessary tax reform for seafarers, considering all the specifics of their position. The Article also provides a comparable insight into regulation of taxation of seafarers in Croatian legislation as exemplary in this regard, also touching upon the approach to mitigating the consequences of the epidemic for Croatian seafarers.
